Growing up on the coast in Orange, Texas, with his family, they were familiar with hurricanes. When there was no imminent danger, he would sit on the porch during storms and listen to the wind blow through the trees. As a self-proclaimed weather nerd, he always pursued a career as a meteorologist. He was also voted “Favorite TV Weatherperson” four years in a row.
He started storm chasing in the 1990s, and moved to Oklahoma to chase and study tornadoes. He worked for 14 years at two different TV stations in Tulsa, most recently as the morning meteorologist at KJRH-TV. While in Tulsa, he was a recipient of a First Place award for “Best Weathercast in Oklahoma” and earned the “Certified Broadcast Meteorologist” designation.
