Ewan Sharp is an assistant coach and analyst for Premier League club Manchester United. He has been working at Lokomotiv Moscow, alongside Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick. He was a performance analyst with New York Red Bulls, before taking up the position of assistant coach at Toronto FC in February 2021. He moved to Moscow in November 2021.

The Scotsman has previously worked with New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC, while also having a two-year stint as director of performance analysis at Northwestern University in the United States.

As a youngster, Sharp played for Stirling City, winning player of the year in 2006/07 and helping the side to win the Loch Lomond festival. In 2010, he enrolled at Mercyhurst University in Pennsylvania to study a Major in Sport Business. At Mercyhurst, he was a regular for the college’s soccer team, turning out for the Wildcats in all four years of his studies. Predominantly a midfielder, Sharp became an integral part of the team by his senior year in 2013, making 16 appearances.

Upon graduating in 2014, he was appointed as an assistant coach where he was responsible for the implementation of a video editing and analysis scheme. After leaving Mercyhurst, Sharp linked up with Rangnick for the first time when he joined New York Red Bulls as a Player Development Coach.

After just four months, he left the Red Bulls to return to college football when he was named as Director of Performance Analysis at Big Ten programme Northwestern University.

But after four years in Illinois, he returned to the Big Apple and Red Bulls as a performance analyst. During his four-year stay in New York, Sharp worked alongside Chris Armas when he was head coach between July 2018 and September 2020. Armas was dismissed in 2020, but Sharp remained with the club, until his former boss approached him to join Toronto FC in February 2021.

Rangnick then brought Sharp to Russia as part of his role as sporting director at Lokomotiv Moscow. He was named as an assistant coach/analyst in the Russian capital.
