David “Dave” Harris is an artist blacksmith, maker on BBC’s “Money for Nothing” and former Chartered Building Surveyor. He is the director of BexSimon Ltd, a company specialising in the design and fabrication of bespoke metal artworks.
He is the managing director and owner of Old Pound Smithy, an eco-retreat in the stunning North Devon countryside, offering Blacksmithing experiences and courses, as well as unique stays. In November 2022 Old Pound Smithy was accepted into the North Devon Biosphere Business Partner accreditation scheme, for showing commitment to Conservation, Local Development and Awareness Raising.
David is a former chartered building surveyor. He worked as a building surveyor for Cluttons LLP from June 2007 to June 2010. As a Chartered Building Surveyor, he became experienced in the management of building projects and associated building surveying services, including the design and specification of refurbishment projects, compiling tender packages, arranging planning, listed building and building regulations applications and contract administration, and acting as CDM-Coordinator.
He graduated from King’s College London with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biology/Biological Sciences and an MSc in Building Surveying from London South Bank University.

David Harris is married to fellow artist blacksmith Bex Simon. Bex has been creating incredible artwork since 1999 and together they have made some pretty large public art sculptures, as well as regularly featuring as makers on BBC One’s ‘Money For Nothing’.
Bex is the first woman to be awarded the Tonypandy Cup for blacksmithing, an award given annually by the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths for a piece of work which is considered to be an outstanding example of the skill of a blacksmith. She won this prestigious award in 2019 for a forty-metre art installation at Westminster Magistrates’ Courts in London.
