Dakota Theriot is the man accused of killing five people in Louisiana. The dead include his parents Elizabeth and Keith Theriot, both 50, his girlfriend, Summer Ernest, his girlfriend’s father, Billy Ernest, 43, and her brother Tanner Ernest, 17.

Dakota Theriot Arrest

was captured Sunday morning in Richmond County following a night on the run after being named a suspect in the shooting deaths of his parents, his girlfriend, and her father and brother in two separate shootings Saturday.

He was arrested without incident as he arrived at a family member’s home. The relatives were returning home around 8 a.m. after voluntarily staying in a motel Saturday night. The family members were joined by a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office escort. Theriot’s arrival while deputies were there was happenstance.

Theriot will be held at a regional jail in Virginia and will face a magistrate sometime in the next few days. He’s then expected to be taken back to Ascension Parish, Louisiana, and booked on two counts of first-degree murder, home invasion and illegal use of weapons in connection with the slayings of his parents.

He is the son of Elizabeth and Keith Theriot. They were at their home near Baton Rouge when their son Dakota killed them. Keith Theriot was still alive when authorities arrived at the scene and told them his son shot them.

Dakota Theriot Girlfriend

Dakota Theriot’s girlfriend, Summer Ernest, and her relatives were found dead in a home 30 miles away. Theriot was dating Summer and had lived with the Ernests for several weeks. According to authorities, he was recently asked to leave the residence and not return.
