Chris Lawrence is an American television news anchor and reporter for WFAA. He is the co-anchor of the station’s evening news with Cynthia Izaguirre. He previously lived in California for 8 years and DC/Virginia for ten, some of which was spent covering the Pentagon for CNN. He graduated from the University of Maryland and worked at local stations in Tuscaloosa Alabama and Syracuse New York.

In his career, he has been able to cover stories that he says have opened up his view of the world. He was among the first people to report live from New Orleans when the levees broke after Katrina and got to Haiti hours after the devastating earthquake there. He spent a lot of time working from Israel and Pakistan, and for about 10 years went back and forth to Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition to that, he got to spend many months with American troops in combat, and carry those memories with him today. His experience in work was drawn from being a veteran for the Navy Reserve.

Before joining CNN, he was a correspondent for CBS Newspath. Prior to joining CBS, he had served as an investigative reporter and weekend morning anchor for WXYZ-TV in Detroit. Before that, he was a weekend anchor and a general assignment reporter for WTVH-TV in Syracuse, New York, and a general assignment reporter for WDBB-TV in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He has been awarded several awards and honors for his work, including an Emmy nomination for Best Spot News, an Associated Press Award, and the Syracuse Press Club Award for Best News Feature.

He is a graduate from the University of Maryland at College Park.
