Cheryl Prime is an English actress and mother of photographer Tobias Engel. She is known for her role as Kathy Barrett on Coronation Street from March to September 1982. Her professional work covered film, with her hero Mike Leigh in “High Hopes”, television, theatre, radio, voice-overs and commercials.
Actress Cheryl Prime studied drama at the Saturday Club for children, run by actor Joe Holroyd in Salford. She made her stage debut at the age of 9 in a production of “The Corn is Green” at the Victoria Theatre. She auditioned for the Arts Educational School in Tring and won a scholarship at age 12. She later studied at amount view Theatre School, Crouch Hill, London, graduating in July 1981.
That same year, she was nominated by the newspaper critics as the most promising newcomer to the theatre, for her role in Arthur Schnitzler’s “The Round Dance” at the Royal Exchange in Manchester.
She other credits include roles in All for Love, The Boy Who Won the Pools, Dempsey and Makepeace, The Ritz, The Bill, Bergerac and Ruth Rendell Mysteries. Her last professional leading role was in a tug of love drama opposite Art Malik in Deborah Moggach’s six part television series “Stolen”.
