Chauncy Glover is an Emmy Award winning journalist and anchor for KCBS and KCAL. He joined the KCAL News Anchor Team in October 2023, joining Pat Harvey as a co-anchor for the 5 and 11pm newscasts on KCBS and KCAL. The Athens, Ala. native replaced Jeff Vaughn. He also partners with Suzie Suh on the 8 and 10 p.m. newscasts on KCAL.

Chauncy was bitten by the news bug at the age of 5 when his dad built him his very own mini “anchor desk” for his newscasts that he would perform for his family every Sunday after church. He turned his hobby into a career and went on to study Broadcast Journalism, Music and Theatre at Troy University. He also has a degree in Public Relations.

Chauncy started his TV career two days after graduating college at WTVM News Leader 9 in Columbus, Georgia. Two years later, he joined CBS 47 and Fox 30 in Jacksonville, Florida as a Special Projects and General Assignment reporter.

In December 2011, Chauncy joined WDIV Local 4 News team in Detroit, Michigan and within months was promoted to a lead late night reporter. Chauncy moved to Houston in 2015 aged 29, starting as a weekend Morning anchor, but was promoted in 2018, becoming KTRK ABC-13’s first black male Main Evening Anchor. He joined the KCAL News team in October 2023.

In 2014, he founded the Chauncy Glover Project, a nonprofit organization that provides hands-on mentoring that’s focused on education, manhood and self-empowerment to Black and Latino youth.

Awards

Chauncy has won several awards for his work, including three Emmy’s for his compelling storytelling and live reports in Detroit as well as his live reporting during Hurricane Harvey—where he rescued a woman in labor, helping deliver the baby. The journalist was also named one of the Ambassadors of the year for his work with the youth of Detroit. He was among Madonna, Mary Barra and five others to receive this coveted award. He was also recognized by President Barack Obama and My Brothers Keeper, for his mentoring work.

Chauncy was named one of Houston’s “Most Interesting People” and was voted one of the, “Most Stylish Houstonians” by the Houston Chronicle. He was also recognized as one of Houston’s Top Black Professionals, in the Top 40 under 40. The National Association of Black Journalists awarded him the Angelo B. Henderson Community Service Award, which recognizes a journalist who has had a positive impact on the community outside the realm of journalism.

In September 2016, Mayra Moreno got engaged. Chauncy took to Social media to pay tribute to Mayra, writing: “My work wife Mayra Moreno is becoming a real wife! #HePutAringOnIt.”

During his final broadcast at KTRK, Chauncy said called his co-anchor Mayra Moreno a “blessing,” adding ,”you have been my rock and my therapist at times. We’ve laughed and prayed and cried together and you have been the best work wife anyone could ask for.” In response, a tearful Moreno said: “I know we will miss you and all of Houston will miss you.”

Chauncy Glover is the son of Robert and Sherry Glover. His parents live in Madison, Ala. He grew up in a close-knit family with a younger brother, Marchas Glover, who died in a car accident in 2012.
