Boon Gould born Rowland Charles Gould, was an English musician and one of the four founding member of the British band Level 42.
He earned his nickname ‘Boon’ as a child when an uncle commented that his apparent inability to cry was a ‘real boon for the family’.
Level 42 was formed in 1979 and went on to release 11 studio albums together, and enjoyed a string of hits in the 1980s and early 90s, including including ‘Lessons In Love’, ‘Running In The Family’, ‘The Sun Goes Down (Living It Up)’, ‘Something About You’, ‘To Be With You Again’, ‘It’s Over’ and ‘Heaven In My Hands’.
Boon Gould left Level 42 in 1987, just a few months before his brother. However, he continued to write lyrics and joined the band to make a guest appearance at a one-off performance in Bristol in 2012.
He released two solo albums, Tin Man in 1995 and Love Kills Overtime in 2000, with the latter under the name Zen Gangsters.
