Bonginkosi Madikizela Biography- Bonginkosi Madikizela Wiki

Bonginkosi Madikizela is a South African politician. He currently serves as the Provincial Minister of Transport and Public Works. He was born on March 15, 1975, in Port Shepstone, Natal, South Africa. Madikizela later moved to Khayelitsha where he started his political career. Madikizela’s brother was killed in 1990. Upon his brother’s murder, Madikizela moved to Chatsworth, living in Welbedacht. While there he collaborated with a community leader and they founded the Welbedacht Development Forum to help the poor residents of the community.

He attended Asoka Secondary School in Chatsworth, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. In 1991, Madikizela dropped out of school to work at a factory shop in Croftdene. In 1998, he moved to Cape Town to live with his brother. He started active politics in 2002 in Cape Town. Madikizela became the Provincial Minister of Transport and Public Works, in May 2019. Prior to this role, Madikizela served as the Democratic Alliance Provincial leader after Patricia de Lille’s resignation in February 2017. Earlier he had served as Democratic Alliance deputy provincial leader.

Before that, Madikizela served as the Provincial Minister of Human Settlements, since 2014. He has also served as a Democratic Alliance Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament. Madikizela joined the Democratic Alliance (DA) in 2008. Prior to joining the Democratic Alliance, Madikizela was a member of the African National Congress (ANC) and the United Democratic Movement (UDM). Madikizela came to the spotlight in 2005, after he led a group of disaffected ANC members in the Makhaza area of Khayelitsha who had been supportive of former Western Cape Premier and ANC Provincial Chairperson Ebrahim Rasool in his leadership battle with Mcebisi Skwatsha.

On April 13, 2021, it was reported that Madikizela did not have a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Human Resource Management as previously claimed and that he had misled a journalist in this regard. A day later the Democratic Alliance announced that its Federal Legal Commission would investigate the Madikizela’s allegations. On April 15, 2021, Madikizela was suspended from his task for 14 days. The deputy leader Albert Fritz is the acting provincial leader.
