Benjamin Ayimba Otieno was a former rugby player and coach. Ayimba was a former Kenya national rugby sevens team head coach. Ayimba attended Maseno school in Nyaza Kenya. While at Maseno school, he started playing rugby in 1993. He was first introduced to the rugby game while in Form 3. Ayimba was also an academic genius, and he emerged among the top students in Kisumu County.

In 1995, he joined Impala RFC. He later played for several rugby clubs including; Nondies RFC and Red Lion. Ayimba has won several Kenya Cups, Enterprise Cups, and different rugby tournaments. In 2000, Ayimba was appointed as the Kenya Sevens captain. He captained the team to two World Cups in Argentina in 2001 and Hong Kong in 2005. In 2006, he took over from his club coach Bill Githinji as the Kenya Sevens head coach. As the head coach, he led the team to the first-ever Main Cup finals in Sydney, Australia. The team lost 7-26 to South Africa.

At the end of 2010, he was honored with the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW) award, by the former president Mwai Kibaki. In 2013, Ayimba was vying to be the director of a director of the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU), he lost to Paula Lanco, Godwin Karuga, and Kadieda Oguta.

Benjamin succumbed to the multiple complications he was being treated for over the past couple of months,”.
