Basirat is an aspiring cook and contestant on Hungry for It on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer. Basirat’s always had an imaginative and entrepreneurial spirit, even before entering the working world, at school she used to sell a variety of sweet treats to make extra pocket money.

Her love of food began with blueberry pancakes, and now she loves to bake brownies, cheesecakes and cookies as well as creating savoury dishes too. She incorporates her heritage into her dishes and wants to show people that African food should be considered as high end as that of other nations.

Basirat’s ultimate love is baking, which she hopes will manifest into a café.
