Avi Sharma Biography – Avi Sharma Wiki
Avi Sharma is a former banker and candidate on series 17 of The Apprentice 2023. He is the Host of Avi TV and founder of VISIBY, an online platform that helps artists sell their work by offering their audiences an immersive, at-home experience.
Avi Sharma previously worked at Barclays Bank in London, England, according to his Linkedin profile. At Barclays, he served as a Relationship Banking Analyst from September 2019 to March 2020, Performance Framework Analyst from April 2020 to October 2020, London SME Graduate Analyst from November 2020 to May 2021, Expert Support Graduate Analyst from June 2021 to February 2022, and Assistant Vice President, Pricing & Commercial Optimisation Manager from Mar 2022 – Aug 2022,
He quit banking in September 2022 to follow his dream. He wrote on Instagram: “I’M MOVING ON: I quit banking to follow my dream! During school, I was the class clown, hurling stink bombs around and spending my days in the Internal Exclusion Room. Nobody expected this immature, attention-seeking boy to one day be working in the gleaming glass building, overlooking the city.
“What a ride the last 3 years have been, maturing from Graduate to Assistant Vice President at @barclaysuk. Banking gave me access to marvellous people and opportunities. But in truth, I accepted the Barclays job offer for extrinsic reasons: to please my parents, improve my status, and dare I say – earn money.
“Money is futile if you’re not learning the skills you need. At this stage in life, I believe that learning > earning. I was NOT put on this planet to climb the corporate ladder, reaching Director. I have different ambitions – taking @avitv_ to the moon!
“People think you’re crazy for following your dream. It’s a seemingly huge risk to remove your ‘safety net’. But is it? I’d argue that the real risk takers are those who stay in jobs that don’t serve them. This compromises your long-term happiness. Here’s to everyone who dreams of breaking free from their 9-5, taking a gamble and doing what they love.
“As a content creator, I get to use my creative flair, meet cool people and be my own boss! You can find me on all platforms at ‘Avi TV’. Thanks to everyone for supporting my journey. LET’S GET IT!”
On 24 September 2017 at the age of 19, Avi Sharma wrote his life ambition: “Finish my economics degree with a 2:1 or 1st, become president of NEFS [Nottingham Economics & Finance Society], graduate and start working in the marketing or asset management department of a world renowned firm, work here for 5-10 years and accumulate money and use this money to set up my property development business. My life ambition. Marry a beauty and have 3 kids”.
In December 2022, Avi noted that “almost NONE of these things happened for me!” He wrote: “I scraped a 2:1 in my Economics degree (59% average). My uni very kindly rounded up the grade. I got booted off NEFS (Nottingham Economics & Finance Society) for lying on my CV. My Presidential dreams in the bin. I got a job at Barclays but quit after 3 years. NOT after 10 years. Five years later, I do not have a single property to my name. My views on marriage have changed. I aim to settle down much later now.”
He added: “It’s great to have a Macro plan. My plan from 5 years ago steered me in SOME direction… But it’s impossible to plan everything. Things change. Be flexible and ready to pounce on another opportunity. Spontaneity brings about excitement. P.S. – this was me in 2017. There was no one on the phone; I was trying hard to look cool!”
