Adrian Barila is a contestant on The Great Australian Bake Off 2024 (GABO). He is a theatre performer, producer and baker based in Melbourne.
He worked with the ABC series “Please Like Me” and had the pleasure to perform as Scotty in ‘Merrily We Roll Along‘ (2017) and Frid in ‘A Little Night Music‘ (2018) with the Melbourne Sondheim repertoire company “Watch This”. Adrian Barila, 28, is one of the contestants competing in The Great Australian Bake Off 2024 on Foxtel. Judged by global culinary icon Rachel Khoo and Australia’s King of Pastry, chef Darren Purchese, and hosted by comedians Natalie Tran and the late Cal Wilson, season seven of The Great Australian Bake Off sees 12 diverse amateur baking enthusiasts put through a series of challenges.
Each episode contains three themed baking challenges – Signature, Technical, and Showstopper. At the end of each episode, one contestant is named Star Baker and one is eliminated, until one is ultimately crowned Australia’s Best Amateur Baker.
Adrian won the Technical Challenge in the first week of the competition. Reflecting on the win, he wrote on Instagram: “Coming first in the Technical Challenge meant the absolute world to me. I had a few goals that I wanted to achieve while on the show, I just didn’t think I’d achieve one in the first week! They should rename the challenge to “second guess yourself for 2hrs straight”.”
Speaking about his fellow contestants, Adrian said: “Absolutely loved getting to know these talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, ect bakers.”
