Sumayah Kazi is a dentistry student and contestant in The Great British Bake Off (GBBO) 2024. Presently on her gap year, Sumayah is a keen sewer, making her own clothes, and has recently taken up photography.
An entirely self-taught baker, Sumayah meticulously researches her creations, combining myriad techniques and recipes to create an eclectic and imaginative fusion of cultures and flavours.
She previously made a macaron tower for her aunt’s mehndi wedding celebration. It stood at 1 metre tall and included 240 macarons in four different flavours, as well as a cascade of flowers. The project confirmed her love for baking.

Sumayah Kazi is one of the contestants taking part in the 15th series of The Great British Bake Off (GBBO) on Channel 4, presented by Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding.
“Somehow ended up on the Great British Bake off and apparently it’s too late to back out now,” Sumayah wrote on Instagram. “Feeling so lucky to have shared this surreal experience (kept captive in a tent on a field and being forced to bake) with the most amazing bunch of bakers and crew. After keeping this secret for so long, I hope you’ll enjoy watching as much as I loved being part of it!”
The Channel 4 show will see 12 amateur bakers compete for this year’s baking crown. The other bakers taking part in the Great British Bake Off 2024 include Andy Ryan, Christiaan de Vries, Dylan Bachelet, Georgie Grasso, Gill Howard, Hazel Vaughan, Illiyin Morrison, Mike Wilkins, Nelly Ghaffar, John and Jeff.
