Tshediso Mangope is a South African Social Activist, Philosophy student, and writer. He is an ANC member in Free State and the Senior Researcher at ANC Parliamentary Caucus in Cape Town. He previously served as the Communications Manager at Pule Molalenyane Foundation in Bloemfontein, Free State, South Africa for a year.
Tshediso started his career in June 2016 as an Online Newsletter Editor at EmpowerZA in Cape Town. He later left EmpowerZA in January 2018 after a 1 year 8 months tenure. He graduated from Reamohetse High School in Botshabelo, South Africa where he was the RCL President. Mangope later attended the University of Cape Town where he studied Social Sciences, Public Administration and graduated in 2017. While in college, he was a Student Staff for 2 years.
Tshediso Mangope Sadtu Controversy
In January 2022, Mangope was forced to apologize for a social media post in which he allegedly slammed members of the South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (Sadtu). He posted a photo of his son with a teacher at Grey College in Bloemfontein, where the boy started school on Wednesday 12, 2022. He wrote, “Boy starts his journey at Grey College. He’s too happy. No magwinya [fat cakes] and archaar eating Sadtu person will teach my children.”
Mangope later said that the post was meant to be a joke. He told Free State Central News, “There’s been banter between myself and my Sadtu friends. This post was made pursuant to the joke. It was meant to be a joke, but people decided to make a meal out of it. I regret having posted it” The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (Sadtu) said via a statement to MEC Mxolisi Dukwana, “We are bringing the matter to the attention of the MEC as it is alleged that Tshediso Mangope is employed in your office … If the allegation is true, the office of the MEC is being disrespected and compromised by the person who should ensure that the office preserves the good image of the MEC, who is a deployee of the ANC.”
