Tasha Stones is a contestant on the 14th series of The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4. A Participation officer from Bristol, Tasha’s fondest childhood baking memory involves savouring the sugar icing from fairy cakes made with her mum and grandma.

At secondary school, she made cakes for her friends and was soon encouraged by her Food Technology teacher to develop her skills as a hobby. Tasha’s approach to baking mirrors her fearless outlook on life. She uses it as a means of creative expression, often tackling challenging designs with remarkable success.

When she’s not baking, Tasha loves going to the theatre to see a West End show and she has a passion for travelling the world.

Tasha Stones is a contestant on the 2023 series of The Great British Bake Off, presented by Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond.

“I went and baked in that big white tent!! I’m on the Great British Bake Off,” the 27-year-old announced her participation in GBBO on Instagram. “I’ve acquired a whole new family in the bakers’ dozen and they are extraordinarily wonderful. I can’t wait for you to meet them all.”

Speaking about having fun in the tent, she said: “We all knew Alison had arrived before we even saw her because everyone could hear her laughing. She came armed with welcome snacks for the bakers’ green room and gave us motivational speeches – we loved her immediately.

“Noel’s brilliantly funny and unpredictable; you never know where the conversation is going to go and then he walks away and you start thinking, ‘Hang on, how did we get there?’”

Tasha is Bake Off’s first ever deaf contestant, with the judges taking it upon themselves to learn sign language in order to communicate with her.

Tasha is joined on the show by Daryl McMullan, her sign language interpreter.

“Seeing Daryl up at the front and feeling fully part of the show was a really special moment,” she said. “I couldn’t have done it without him, and without the dedication from the show ensuring I had the same access as the other bakers.”
