Sofia Levin is an Australian culinary travel journalist and presenter who celebrates diversity through food. She’s known for her enthusiasm for food, culture and eating curiously. At the end of 2023, Sofia was announced as a judge on MasterChef Australia.
Born and raised in multicultural Melbourne, Sofia appreciates the importance of identity and the beauty of diversity. Shortly after her 19th birthday, Sofia found herself at a night market in Morocco and knew she wanted to be a food and travel journalist. She has explored culture and community through the lens of food ever since.
In 2020 Sofia launched Seasoned Traveller, a culinary travel website and newsletter that celebrates diversity and culture through food. It’s founded on the #EatCuriously movement, which encourages people to order outside their comfort zone to learn more about others and themselves.
Sofia has been a freelance food and travel journalist for more than a decade. She has written for publications such as Lonely Planet, The Age and Sydney Morning Herald’s Good Food, SBS Food, Domain Review, National Geographic, The Guardian, delicious., in-flight magazines, Broadsheet, Time Out and more. She has also co-authored travel guidebooks and reviewed for Australia’s best food guides.
She’s also appeared on TV shows such as The Cook Up with Adam Liaw, Postcards, My Market Kitchen with Mike Reid and Mark Wiens (Migrationology).
