Shelley Mather Meyer is the wife of Jaguars Head Coach Urban Meyer. She is a psychiatric nurse and a spinning instructor. She was hired by the University of North Florida (UNF) to teach a clinical in the hospital about mental health to nursing students.
Born in Frankfort, Ohio, the oldest of five siblings, Shelley grew up on a farm and was crowned the 1983 Ross County Fair Queen. She attended the University of Cincinnati, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing, and later earned a master’s degree from the University of Colorado in psychiatric nursing.
In conjunction with the OSUCCC – James, the Meyers established the Urban and Shelley Meyer Fund for Cancer Research with the goal of furthering efforts for recruiting the very best and brightest cancer research experts to the OSUCCC – James. Both Urban and Shelley’s families having been touched by cancer. Urban’s father, Urban Meyer Sr., was a bladder cancer survivor, and his mother, Gisela Meyer, was treated for breast cancer at Ohio State back when her son was the assistant football coach under Earle Bruce.
