Saint Dog, whose real name is Steven Thronson, was an American rapper from Southern California. He was also a founding member of the hip-hop group Kottonmouth Kings. He is best known for their early hits like “Suburban Life,” “Bump,” “Dog’s Life,” “Play On,” among others.

He founded Kottonmouth Kings in Orange County with Daddy X, D-Loc, Lou Dog, and DJ Bobby B in 1996. He appeared on 4 of the group’s early projects, including “Stoners Reeking Havoc,” “Royal Highness,” “Stash Box” and “Hidden Stash.” He then left to pursue a solo career. His debut solo album, Ghetto Guide, was released in 2004. After collaborating with a number of acts and releasing his second solo album, USA (Unconformable Social Amputees), he returned to Kottonmouth Kings to appear as a featured artist on their 2015 record, Krown Power. He officially rejoined the lineup in 2018 to release Kingdom Come. His third and final solo album, Bozo, was released in 2019.

Suburban Noize Records โ€” an independent record label founded by Kottonmouth Kings’ Daddy X and Kevin Zinger โ€” also paid tribute to Saint Dog in an Instagram post. The record label wrote: “RIP๐Ÿ™. Our brother Steven โ€œSaint Dogโ€ Thronson left us yesterday. We will miss you and your big heart. You were one of a kind and our hearts our broken. But we promise to keep your legacy alive threw your music. Everyone please take some time and say a few words or tell a story about our fallen brother below. He touched so many and we will keep his legacy thriving. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ‘‘โ™ ๏ธ #RIPSaintDog.”

Suburban Noize Records exec Kevin Zinger said in a statement: “Anyone that knew Steve saw what a big heart he had. Some of my fondest memories was watching Steve stop the music in the middle of a Kottonmouth Kings show to bring a handicapped fan in a wheelchair on stage so that he could have a better view of the show and even join in singing a few songs. That was just the kind of person Steve was and he touched so many people in a positive way. His legacy will live on in his music and our hearts go out to his Son Max and his entire family, friends and fans worldwide.”

Rapper Rick Dogg also paid tribute to Saint Dog in an Instagram post. The rapper shared, “Saddened to hear the loss of, not only a legend in the rap game, but fellow @force5records family member ๐Ÿ˜” Rest easy @saint.dog #RIPSaintDog.”

Saint Dog’s cause of death will be determined pending an autopsy and toxicology report. According to authorities, there were no obvious signs of foul play.
