Richard Buckley was an American fashion journalist and editor. He was the husband of a renowned award-winning fashion designer and filmmaker Tom Ford. Buckley was born in Binghamton, New York, and grew up as part of a military family in the United States, France, and Germany. Upon graduating from the University of Maryland’s Munich campus, Buckley began his journalism career at the New York magazine in the late 1970s. In the early 1980s, he moved to Paris, France where he served as the European editor of Fairchild Publications’ Daily News-Record, the men’s wear counterpart to WWD.

After four years he moved back to New York to work as the editor in chief of the company’s newest publication, Scene. In 1988, he left Fairchild after the Scene was shuttered and joined Vanity Fair where he served as the social editor. He later moved to Milan, Italy in 1990 and worked as the European editor of Mirabella magazine and also as a contributing editor at Italian Vogue. Buckley later moved to the United Kingdom and worked in London as the editor in chief of Vogue Hommes International.
