Ramsey Homsany is the Co-Founder and President of Octant Bio, a therapeutics company building drugs that match the complexity of human diseases using “synthetic biology, high throughput multiplexed assays, synthetic chemistry, and computation to engineer and interrogate drugs, proteins, and signaling pathways”. He co-founded Octant in June 2017.

Before Octant, Homsany was an executive at Dropbox, where he had roles leading Dropbox’s communications, public policy & government affairs, human resources, legal, and trust & security teams. During that time Dropbox raised $1+ billion in capital, grew to more than 500 million users, and was the fastest SAAS company in history to reach $1 billion in revenue run rate.

Prior to Dropbox, Homsany was a Vice President at Google, where he managed Google’s commercial legal groups and negotiated some of the internet industry’s largest partnerships.

Before that, Homsany was a technology attorney at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and a Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He has also done pro bono work representing indigent clients seeking political asylum. He received a B.S. in Chemical & Biochemical Engineering from Rutgers University and a J.D. from NYU.

Ramsey Homsany was born in Beirut, Lebanon, to an Egyptian father and a Lebanese mother. His father grew up in Alexandria, Egypt, a center of Mediterranean culture, learning and religion. But, because of wars and work, he left Egypt to come to America. And on that journey, he ended up in even more turbulent place – Beirut, Lebanon, where he met his wife. Homsany’s mother’s family are Canaanites – heirs to yet another Middle Eastern heritage. From Beirut, the Homsany family moved to Athens and then moved to Sparta, New Jersey.

Homsany’s father’s first jobs in America was in a medical lab. He was offered a full scholarship to medical school, but he turned it down. He wanted to be an Engineer. His first job was as a uranium buyer for the Three Mile Island power plant in Pennsylvania.
