Mauro Viale (born Mauricio Goldfarb) was an Argentine journalist and television presenter. He was a TV-radio host and former sportscaster. He started out in sports and later turned to general and entertainment journalism. He had started off as a sportscaster, becoming a top-class football narrator. He began his career in the 1970s as a sports journalist and transmitting matches of the Argentine Primera División and later of the 1978 FIFA World Cup as well as of the 1986 FIFA World Cup. He was also featured in television shows like Indomitable, Tough to tame, Controversy in football, and Controversy at the bar among others.
By age group, he belonged to the so-called risk groups, which is why he was vaccinated with Sinopharm against COVID-19 on April 8, 2021. However, two days later, on April 10, he was admitted to the Sanatorio Los Arcos, in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Palermo, due to bilateral pneumonia and symptoms of COVID-19, a disease in which he tested positive after taking the tests. He passed away on April 11 from cardiac arrest at the age of 73.
He had received the first dose of the vaccine against the Covid-19 coronavirus the week of April 8. He had experienced mild symptoms when he was hospitalized Saturday and tested for Sars-CoV-2 which came out positive. His condition turned for the worse on Sunday when it became bilateral pneumonia. “Today I went to get vaccinated and the first thing they did was take my temperature. They warned me that I could get a fever. They are aiming to call me to ask if I had a fever because it is very dangerous for the vaccine to act with this side effect. I don’t have a fever,” Viale had said joyfully after getting the jab.
