Marcus Lamb (born Marcus Daron Lamb) was the founder and president of Daystar Television Network. He began preaching as an evangelist in the summer of 1973 at the age of 15. Upon skipping his senior year of high school in 1974, at the age of 16, Marcus enrolled in Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee on a full scholarship. At age 19, he began his final senior semester at the private liberal arts school and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
In December of 1981, Marcus Lamb founded Word of God Fellowship in Macon. In 1985, Marcus built WMCF-TV, “45 Alive,” in Montgomery. In 1990, Marcus and his wife moved to Dallas, Texas, to build KMPX-TV 29. TV 29 went on the air full power in September of 1993. Daystar Television Network officially launched in 1997 with a live broadcast of T.D. Jakes’ New Year’s Eve service at the Potter’s House Church in Dallas.
Additionally, Marcus Lamb has received two honorary doctorates, as well as the Alumnus of the Year award from his college, Lee University.

“As we remember this Great General of the Faith, let us never forget his devotion to the Great Commission. His heart’s passion was that all may come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior and experience the transformational power of the Holy Spirit.
“It is our prayer that his life has inspired you to dare to answer God’s call on your life, to believe that with God truly anything is possible, and that if you let God write your adventure, you’ll touch the world.
“The family asks at this time that their privacy be respected as they grieve this difficult loss, and they wish to express their deep love and gratitude for all those who prayed during Marcus’s health battle. Continue to lift them up in prayer in the days ahead.
“Please join with the rest of the Daystar family as we take comfort in knowing that Marcus was greeted into Heaven with these words from the Father, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” And we look forward with great longing for that glorious day when we will see him face to face again in eternity.”
Joni Lamb, Marcus Lamb’s wife, paid tribute to her late husband in a social media post, sharing a photo the couple had taken four weeks prior. She wrote: “I can’t believe we just took this pic four weeks ago. Who could have known my husband, best friend, lover, partner in ministry would be with Jesus? God knew but I sure don’t understand. I can’t imagine life without you nor do I want to but I do know that you finished the race strong and I know God said “well done”. I’m gonna miss you like crazy but I always promised you I would carry on and I will. The legacy you leave behind is strong and full of God’s presence. I’ll see you soon my love… all my love…Joni ❤️”
Marcus Lamb Cause of Death
He died from COVID-19 complications. He had diabetes and was hospitalized in mid-November after his oxygen levels dropped, according to his wife.
