Louis Zorich was an American actor and musician. He was well known for Fiddler on the Roof (1971), The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984), and Detachment (2011). His first major film role was the Russian Constable in Fiddler on the Roof (1971). Zorich was featured in Popi and For Pete’s Sake and played Pete in The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984). He played Ben In Death of a Salesman (1985).
Zorich’s first TV job in a Canadian production of “Les Miserables”. In 1960, he made his Broadway debut in Jean Anouilh’s “Becket” starring Laurence Olivier and Anthony Quinn. Born on February 12, 1924, in Chicago, Illinois, United States, Zorich attended Earle Elementary School. He later studied music at Roosevelt University, in Chicago, Illinois. Zorich earned his dramatic training at the Goodman School of Drama, at the Art Institute of Chicago (now at DePaul University) in Chicago. He made his stage career debut in Canada. During World War II, Zorich served in the U.S. Army.
