Kristie Newton is an Australian professional golfer and daughter of former Australian golfing great Jack Newton. Kristie quit golf at age 16 because she was not “mentally mature” enough to compete in the legendary shadow of her father, Jack.
A University of Newcastle honours graduate, she moved to Melbourne in 2002 to pursue a career in graphic design. A chance round of golf with her now husband, former AFL forward Ben Dixon, made her consider taking back her first love.
She got back to golf and joined Victoria Golf Club. Upon joining the golf club as an amateur, she was crowned club champion in three of the following four years. She turned pro in September 2006 and went on to play on the Australian Ladies Professional Golf Tour and the Ladies European Tour.
