Katlego Moswane Maboe is a South African TV presenter, singer-songwriter, voice-over artist, MC, model, and actor. He is known for hosting the morning talk show The Expresso Show on SABC 3. He was awarded the prestigious South African Film and Television Award (SAFTA) for best TV presenter of the year, in 2015 and 2016.

He made his television debut in 2009 on the Afrikaans lifestyle magazine series DEKAT. He then began co-hosting the magazine series 50/50 on SABC 2 before hosting Expresso on SABC 3 when the show launched in October 2010. He has hosted the second season of Strictly Come Dancing South Africa. He has also hosted the South African Film and Television Awards in 2016 with Minnie Dlamini, and in 2017 with Thando Thabethe. In addition to hosting the SAFTAs, Maboe has also hosted ATKV Mediaveertjies and the Huisgenoot Tempo Toekennings.

Appointed a HOPE Cape Town Goodwill Ambassador in 2014, Maboe is regularly involved in philanthropic projects that focus on education and health, such as his ongoing community work with HOPE Cape Town and riding the Cape Town Cycle Tour twice in the name of charity (with Michael Mol in 2011 for Open Gate, and in 2013 riding for Pick n Pay in support of the Velokhaya Cycling Club).

Amongst his many accolades, Maboe was crowned the most stylish male celebrity in South Africa at the 2014 YOU Spectacular Awards, and featured in the 2015 South African Menswear Week modelling for Presidential Shirts.

Throughout his life, Maboe has been very active in cultural, sporting and academic activities; taking a keen interest in various sporting codes; excelling to provincial level in cricket. In 2015 Maboe put his athletic abilities to the test when he took part in the charity boxing match Unfinished Business. Pitted against Lunga Shabalala, Maboe won the match 3-0.

Katlego completed his schooling at Potchefstroom Central School and Potchefstroom High School for Boys, matriculating in 2004. He went on to study for a B.Com degree in Chartered Accountancy at the North West University which he completed in 2007.

Katlego Maboe is married to his wife Monique Muller. They “are currently undergoing an unfortunate and painful separation which is being resolved through legal proceedings,” Maboe said in a statement in October 2020.

In October 2020, news of trouble in the couple’s relationship became public when Muller in a video accused Maboe of allegedly giving her a sexually transmitted disease (STD) that damaged her womb, because of his infidelity. In the video, Maboe sheepishly admitted to having cheated on her with another woman identified as Nikita Murray, a former Outsurance employee.

In another video, Muller claimed that Maboe also physically abused her. Maboe said in a statement: “I was unfaithful to my partner during a very important time of our lives – an act I regret to this day. We are currently undergoing an unfortunate and painful separation which is being resolved through legal proceedings. As you can imagine, separations are quite a difficult thing to deal with, especially with a child involved.

“In light of the comments made against me, I would like to state that I have never abused my partner. I have always and will always stand up against the abuse of women and children – in fact, the abuse of anyone for that matter.

“I had chosen to deal with this matter privately to protect and safeguard our child. At the end of the day, our child is all that matters to me. However, I will leave this to the legal system and let the truth have its day.”

Katlego Maboe and his wife Monique Muller have a son, Phoenix Katlego Maboe, born on 26 June 2018. On Jun 27, 2018, Maboe announced the birth of their first child, sharing a picture of the baby’s hand, along with his own and Monique’s on Instagram.

Born on the 29th of October 1986, Maboe lived with his parents in Phokeng, Rustenburg. His father was abusive and his parents consequently separated when he was 3 years old.
