Jonathan Vigliotti is an American national correspondent with CBS News based in Los Angeles. He went to work with CBS in May 2015. His reports can be seen regularly on the network’s news programs, and affiliate service Newspath. Before then, he worked for WNBC in New York and contributed to The New York Times.
He grew up in Mount Kisco, New York, and attended Fordham University, where he studied journalism and architecture. He graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications. While a student, he was a reporter and anchored news updates for NPR affiliate WFUV and interned at ABC’s 20/20. Before he joined CBS News, he reported and anchored at KJCT-TV (ABC) in Grand Junction, Colorado, WTMJ (NBC) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and WNBC in New York City. He has also contributed reports for Current Television, the New York Times’ Travel Section, and the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting. In his career, he has covered a wide range of stories including the earthquake in Haiti, Hurricane Sandy, the Newtown school shooting, the Boston Marathon bombing, the ongoing search for MH370, and the Paris terrorist attack.
He has received one national Emmy award and 6 regional Emmy awards, including “Best On-Camera Talent” for his 2011 investigation into the online gun trade and “Breaking News” for his field reporting during Hurricane Sandy in 2013,He has also received two Edward R. Murrow awards, and three Associated Press awards for his reporting and breaking news coverage.
