Jean Mackin is an American journalist. She currently serves as a News Anchor and Reporter for WMUR-TV News. Jean co-anchors the News 9 at 5:00. She also reports on the weeknights on News 9 Tonight. Jean began her reporting tenure at WMUR-TV in June 1998. The Edward R. Murrow Award-winner journalist has covered major news events including New Hampshire presidential primaries, the Boston Marathon Bombing, and the fall of the Old Man of the Mountain.
Jean made her first television news appearance working behind the camera at a 1990 murder trial. Prior to joining WMUR-TV News, Jean worked as a reporter and anchor at a FOX station in Martinsburg, West Virginia, between 1991 and 1993. Between 1993 and 1998, she reported for a CBS station in Charleston, West Virginia.
Jean received the Angels In Adoption award in 2015 on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. She and Chronicle Producer Mary-Paige Provost accepted the honor on behalf of the Home At Last segment which successfully features New Hampshire children in need of adoption.
