Georgie Carter is a sewing enthusiast, DJ, model and contestant on The Great British Sewing Bee 2024 on BBC One. The club and festival DJ from the Isle of Wight is also a member of Ryde Town Council, representing the ward of Ryde Monktonmead. According to Isle of Wight County Press, Georgie was once a well-known voice on Isle of Wight Radio.
According to her LinkedIn profile, she previously served as a Complaints and Investigations Officer at the Isle of Wight Council. She was also a police officer with the Metropolitan Police and Hampshire Police. She graduated from the University of Exeter with a Bachelor’s degree in Theology and Psychological Studies.

Georgie Carter is a contestant on series 10 of The Great British Sewing Bee on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. In a post on her social media, Georgie wrote: “Oh my gosh – the secret is finally out! I’m a contestant on the one and only Great British Sewing Bee!
“I have been in love with the sewing bee since it started and have probably watched each series several times on repeat, but never dreamt I’d actually get on the show. It still feels very surreal but I’m incredibly honoured to be part of the ‘hive’ and to have met such awesome people on this crazy ride.”
She added: “To my fellow ‘bees’, here we go. The adventure continues. You are such an awesome group of humans, who I am lucky to now call friends.”
Taught the basics by her mother and grandmother, Georgie has been sewing on and off for 10 years. She started out by making curtains and Roman blinds followed by handbags and cushions. She describes her style as a smorgasbord of casual chic, grungy boho and ‘earth mother hippy’, qualities borne out in her passion for sustainability and aversion to ‘fast fashion’.
Outside of sewing, Georgie spends her time growing her own fruit and vegetables on her allotment and volunteering for her community as an elected Town Councillor. She also loves to knit and is slowly working towards making her entire wardrobe self-made or second-hand.
