Garrick Higgo is a South African professional golfer. Higgo is currently playing on the PGA Tour, European Tour, and Sunshine Tour. He previously played on the Challenge Tour and Big Easy Tour. On 13 June 2021, he won his first PGA Tour title at the Palmetto Championship. The Johannesburg native has won three times on the European Tour.
During his amateur career, Higgo won the 2016 Curro South African Juniors International, the Northern Amateur Open, and the Central Gauteng Open Stroke Play in 2016. In 2017, he won the Nomads National Order of Merit (Coastal), Cape Province Open, The Bobby Locke Open, and the Harry Oppenheimer Trophy. Higgo also represented the International Team at the 2017 Junior Presidents Cup. He was the top-ranked amateur in South Africa.
Higgo turned professional in 2019 and won twice on the Sunshine Tour that same season. He won at the Sun City Challenge and the season-ending Tour Championship. Higgo earned a place on the Challenge Tour for the 2020 season by making the cut at the European Tour Qualifying School.
In September 2020, at the Open de Portugal, a dual-ranking event on the European and Challenge tours, Higgo shot a bogey-free final round of 65 to win by one stroke, and gain a one-year exemption on the European Tour. In April 2021, he earned his second European Tour victory at the Gran Canaria Lopesan Open. He won the event with an aggregate score of 255, beating English golfer Andrew Michael Sullivan’s record of 257 previously set in 2020.
On 9 May 2021, he won the Canary Islands Championship after finishing 6 strokes ahead of Maverick Antcliff of Australia. On 13 June 2021, he earned his first PGA Tour title at the Palmetto Championship. He defeated Chesson Hadley, Tyrrell Hatton, Doc Redman, Hudson Swafford, Bo Van Pelt, and Jhonattan Vegas by one stroke to lift his breakthrough PGA title. Higgo attended Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch, South Africa. He went on to attend the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, Majoring in hospitality management.
