Ewen MacIntosh was a Welsh actor and comedian known for his role as Keith Bishop in The Office.
MacIntosh was born in Merionethshire. He went to school at Repton School in Derbyshire and proceeded to study linguistics at the University of Edinburgh. While at university, he was actively involved in the Edinburgh University Theatre Company and The Improverts.
MacIntosh’s big break in television came when he was cast as deadpan accountant Keith Bishop in The Office. He also appeared on various shows such as Miranda and Little Britain. He formed a double act with Tim FitzHigham and they performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2007. In 2009, he appeared alongside several other celebrities in a charity music video for the Chris Rea song “Driving Home for Christmas”.
In April 2013, he performed at a West End show Geek! A New Musical at the Tristan Bates Theatre. He was a regular on the radio sitcom Cabin Pressure as Carl, a bored air traffic controller. In 2013 he appeared in a national TV advert for ao.com.
MacIntosh appeared as Barry the window cleaner in the 2014 film The Confusion of Tongues, and in 2015 had a role in The Lobster, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos. In 2017 he appeared as Lionel in the British romantic comedy film Finding Fatimah.
He appeared on Week 2 (Cheshire) of Celebrity Come Dine with Me in 2020, alongside Charlotte Crosby, Dawn Ward, Steven Arnold, and Jay Hutton.
MacIntosh also presented various music programmes in Now 80s and Now 90s. In 2022, he made a cameo appearance in the third and final series of After Life. He also made an appearance in an episode of Unfinished London by Jay Foreman on YouTube as “Robert P McCulloch”

MacIntosh died at a care home in Darlington on 19 February 2024, at the age of 50. His representatives confirmed.
“It is with a heavy heart I can confirm the very sad news of our client Ewen’s passing. Ewen was a wonderful actor and an even better human being. He made people laugh and possessed such a kind heart. He touched the lives of all who came into contact with him,” Just Right Management said in a statement sent to CNN on Wednesday, February 22, 2024.
“Ewen suffered from ill health these past two years and passed peacefully on the 19th of February from undisclosed causes. His family is heartened by and deeply appreciate all the outpouring of love for Ewen but would appreciate the privacy for them to grieve at this very difficult time,” it continues.
“Ewen will be so very dearly missed. Gods speed Ewen,” added the company.

MacIntosh’s cause of death has not been confirmed, but he died at Willow Green Care Home in Darlington. He was 50 years old.
