Davis Riley Biography – Davis Riley Wiki

Davis Riley is an American professional golfer on the PGA Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour. The golfer has two wins on the Korn Ferry Tour, the Panama Championship and the TPC San Antonio Championship at the Oaks, both in 2020.

Riley played college golf at the University of Alabama. In his first season of college golf, Riley earned a PING All-America honorable mention as well as All-SEC second team and all-freshman accolades. As a sophomore, he was named PING All-Region and Second Team All-SEC. As a Junior, he claimed his first collegiate victory in the Olympia Fields Illini Invitational after shooting a career low 54-hole total of 7-under par 200 (66-67-67). He also ended the fall season ranked as the top collegiate golfer in the nation by Golfweek/Sagarin Individual Rankings.

In December 2018, with no status on any professional tour, Riley turned pro — leaving behind his role as the best player on a top-five college golf team for zero guarantees. Over the next 12 months, Riley clawed his way all the way up the Korn Ferry Tour’s ladder: first by playing his way into fields through four Monday qualifiers, then by earning enough status to finish the 2019 season, followed by making up enough ground in the season-long points race to sneak into the Korn Ferry Tour Finals — which earned him full status for 2020, as reported by Lying Four.

Davis Riley Golf High School

Riley played at Presbyterian Christian High School in Hattiesburg, Miss. He was named by USA Today as the 2014-15 All-USA Boys Golf Player of the Year and won the state title four straight years, including shooting a 9-under par 63 to take individual honors by a six-stroke margin his senior season.

The Mississippi native was named as a recipient of the Byron Nelson International Junior Golf Award, which recognizes junior golf’s top performing athletes who demonstrate strong character, consistent sportsmanship, a commendable academic background as well as a commitment to serving others. At the age of 17, he became the youngest player to ever win the prestigious Terra Cotta Invitational. He joined Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth as the only golfers to appear in the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship in back-to-back years where he finished runner-up in both 2013 and 2014, behind Scottie Scheffler and Will Zalatoris, respectively.

He was a two-time AJGA First Team All-America in both 2014 and 2015. As a sophomore in 2013, he finished inside the top 30 in every AJGA event he played and made it to the final match at the U.S. Junior.

I could walk 200 yards from my house and be on the driving range and putting green and clubhouse. It was literally an ideal setup for anyone who wants to play golf. To this day I still walk back and forth when I’m home. It’s pretty cool. I was very fortunate to have that. I grew up and my dad would take me over there. I’d beat balls from sun up to sun down and then finally I got old enough and had a great group of guys so we’d walk back and forth. My dad got me into the game.”
