Cassie Berman born Cassie Marrett, is an American musician. She was a member of the indie rock band Silver Jews, which was fronted by her husband David Berman. She contributed vocals and occasionally bass to the albums Bright Flight, Tanglewood Numbers, and Lookout Mountain, Lookout Sea. She also played bass and sang backup during live concerts. Berman appeared in the film Silver Jew, which chronicled the band’s tour of the Middle East. In addition, Berman also played bass on the Papa M album Hole of Burning Alms.
Cassie Berman Husband – David Berman’s Wife
She was previously married to David Berman. David Berman was best known for his work with indie-rock band the Silver Jews. He formed Silver Jews in the late ’80s with Pavement members Stephen Malkmus and Bob Nastanovich. The group went through multiple lineup changes and released six studio albums between the years of 1994 and 2008. Berman remained the only constant member of the band during that time period. After releasing their sixth LP Lookout Mountain, Lookout Sea in 2008, Berman dissolved Silver Jews the following year.
In 2019, a decade after Silver Jews disbanded, Berman announced a new project called Purple Mountains. He released a self-titled album under that moniker in July 2019 via his longtime label home, Drag City.

David Berman died on August 7, 2019. He was 52 years old. His record label, Drag City, announced his death via Twitter: “We couldn’t be more sorry to tell you this. David Berman passed away earlier today. A great friend and one of the most inspiring individuals we’ve ever known is gone. Rest easy, David.”
