Carlos Marin was a Spanish baritone and a member of the classical crossover group Il Divo. He was one of the founding members of Il Divo which was created by Simon Cowell in 2003 under his SyCo record label. He went on to release 10 studio albums with the group, including three UK number one albums: “Il Divo,” “Ancora” and “The Promise.”

Born in Rüsselsheim, Germany, Marin began his musical career at a young age, recording his first album when he was eight. The album, entitled El pequeño Caruso, contained songs such as O Sole Mio and Granada. At the age of 10, he recorded his second album titled “Mijn Lieve Mama” (My dear mom). He went on to study piano and music theory.

Simon Cowell led the tributes to the Il Divo singer. Cowell wrote: “I am finding this so difficult to put into words how I feel right now. I am devastated Carlos Marin has passed away. He loved life. He loved performing and always had so much appreciation towards the fans who supported the group from day 1. Rest in peace Carlos. I will miss you.”
