Buddha Lo Biography – Buddha Lo Wiki
Buddha Lo is the Executive Chef at Huso, the Michelin plate restaurant inside Marky’s Caviar serving an 8-course tasting menu. Buddha learned the foundations of flavor and the rules of the kitchen at a very young age by working for his father at his family’s Chinese restaurant in Port Douglas, Australia.
After school Buddha would cook at his family’s restaurant and a 5-star hotel on the weekends at the age of 14. After graduating high school, Buddha then moved to Melbourne at age 17 to further pursuit his career in cooking. He went on and enrolled at the at William Angliss Institute in Melbourne while working at 2 hat Restaurant at the same time.
Just before Buddha graduated culinary school, he won a scholarship to a 2-month stage at the 2 Michelin star Château Cordeillan-Bages in Pauillac, France. Returning to Australia he then worked for Raymond Capaldi, one of the best chefs in Australia, and eventually went on to be his head chef at age 19.
After working for Raymond Capaldi for 2 years, Buddha moved to London to work at the three Michelin-starred restaurant Gordon Ramsay, where he met his mentor, Clare Smyth. He then moved to New York City and spent a year at three Michelin-starred restaurant Eleven Madison Park where he learned to push himself in the world of fine dining. During his time at Eleven Madison, he cooked his way through the kitchen and won the Eleven Madison Park cook battle.
