Bob Kovachick is an American journalist who joined WNYT in April 1988 as NewsChannel 13’s chief meteorologist. He has the responsibility of preparing and delivering daily weather forecasts for the 5, 5:30, and 6 p.m. newscasts. Over the years, he has acquired years of valuable experience in meteorology through employment at the Universal Weather Service in White Plains New York, WTEN an ABC-affiliated television station licensed to Albany, in Albany, and an ABC-affiliated television station licensed to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States.
In addition to his responsibilities as a meteorologist, he is a frequent speaker to various organizations and he spends approximately two days per week visiting young people at area schools and discussing the intricacies of meteorology.
He is a graduate of Lyndon State College in Lyndon, Vermont, he is a recipient of his Bachelor of Science in Meteorology in 1971. He has received the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval in Television Weathercasting and he is a professional member of both the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association.
