Anna Delvey real name Anna Sorokin, is a Russian-German woman who was involved in the socialite scene in Manhattan.
Sorokin attended high school in Eschweiler, near the German-Belgian-Dutch border. She graduated from high school in 2011 and then moved to London to attend the Central Saint Martins art school, but dropped out and returned to Berlin, Germany.
Sorokin interned in the fashion department of a public-relations firm in Germany and then moved to Paris to become an intern for Purple, a French fashion, art and culture magazine and soon changed her name to Anna Delvey.

Anna Sorokin was arrested in 2017 on six charges of grand larceny for allegedly scamming wealthy New York City business acquaintances and several hotels.
Prosecutors claim that she swindled $275,000 in a 10-month odyssey that saw her jetting to Omaha and Marrakesh before landing in a cell at Rikers Island prison.
Sorokin appeared in New York City Criminal Court on December 18, 2018 and rejected a plea deal that would have her released from jail and deported back to Germany in early 2019. Delvey decided to go to trial. Her trial on grand larceny and theft of services charges began in a Manhattan court on Wednesday, March 27, 2019.
Sorokin faces deportation to Germany regardless of the outcome of the trial because authorities say she overstayed her visa.
