Andre Emmett was an American professional basketball player. He played college ball at Texas Tech from 200-2004. He was drafted in the second round of the 2004 NBA draft by the Seattle SuperSonics before ending up on the Memphis Grizzlies from 2004-2005.

He played professional basketball ever since all over the world for 24 different organizations including the NBA, D League (Now G League), the Big 3, and numerous other countries.

“After college, Emmett spent parts of two seasons in the NBA, with the Memphis Grizzlies and New Jersey Nets. He’s been active overseas and in the NBA D-League. He was a two-time D-League all-star. Playing for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, he was named 2015 D-League All-Star Game MVP.”

Andre Emmett Death – Andre Emmett Shooting

Andre Emmett died on September 23, 2019 in a shooting in his hometown of Dallas Texas. According to Dallas Police, around 2:30 a.m., Andre Emmett, was approached by two unknown suspects as he sat in his vehicle in front of his home in the 1800 block of N. Prairie Ave. The suspects pulled out a gun and an “altercation” began. Emmett was shot as he ran from the suspects.

Emmett was found by a passerby who called 911. He was found several hundred feet from his home. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Shams Charania of The Athletic confirmed the news on Twitter. Charania tweeted: “Former NBA player Andre Emmett, who played two seasons with the Nets and Grizzlies, was murdered this morning in Dallas. Emmett recently became a father. He played at Texas Tech and was No. 36 pick in 2004 draft. RIP.”

The BIG3 released a statement via Twitter: “The BIG3 is in a state of shock over the sudden and tragic death of Andre Emmett. Andre was a member of the BIG3 family for two seasons and never without a smile on his face. His kindness towards others and easy-going demeanor made him a joy to be around.

“Off the court, Dre was passionate about helping young people through his Dreams Really Exist foundation. We are simply heartbroken by this devastating loss. Our thoughts are with Andre’s family and friends during this difficult time.”
