Amanda Macias is an American journalist who covers national security, defense industry and the intelligence community for CNBC.

She joined CNBC’s Washington bureau in 2018 and is based in the Pentagon. She studied Broadcast Journalism and Finance at the University of Missouri.

Before joining CNBC, she was a reporter at CBS Radio.She then became  a field producer for Reuters in Brussels covering NATO and EU political institutions. Afterwards she became a correspondent for Business Insider’s military and defense team.

She grew up in the US Army and graduated from the University of Missouri-School of Journalism. She lives in Washington, DC.

She has been linked with Henry Kyle Frese, 30 years old, who accessed a classified intelligence report about China’s weapons systems in the  year 2018 and provided information from it to her and NBC’s  journalist  Courtney Kube.

She worked together with NBC’s Courtney Kube on a NBC News report on China conducting anti-ship missile tests in the South China Sea that was published in July 2019. The expose cited two U.S. officials.
