Alexis Dodds is an ER travel nurse and the mother of Chris Smith‘s son. The former NFL defensive end passed away on April 17, 2023, at the age of 31. Alexis paid tribute to the former NFL player in an emotional post on Instagram.
The travel nurse wrote: “Where do I begin? 2013 my life changed forever with out even knowing. I thank God for the 10 years of knowing you, but I thank him even more for letting us create a son, a legacy.
“You knew how to brighten up a room with your laugh & spirit. We have had many highs and many lows..a lot of people could never understand our relationship. But through it all we knew we was family and loved each other deeply.
“I can’t believe I’m writing this right now, and idk how to tell our son, that you are gone. I promise that your legacy will live on forever! We love you Smitty..fly high love🕊️💔”
Alexis holds two degrees and licensures, one as a Registered Dental Hygienist and the other as a Registered Nurse. In April 2021, she accepted a position as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department in Houston Texas. She passed her NCLEX test in June 2021.
Smith played college football at Arkansas before being selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fifth-round of the 2014 draft. He also had spells with the Cincinnati Bengals, Las Vegas Raiders, Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers and Baltimore Ravens. He last played in the NFL for the Houston Texans in 2021, but had signed for the XFL’s Seattle Sea Dragons in March 2023.
