Abraham Ancer is a Mexican professional golfer. On Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021, Ancer won the World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational for his first PGA Tour title, beating Hideki Matsuyama and Sam Burns with a 6-foot birdie putt on the second playoff hole of a playoff. Ancer became the fourth Mexican winner on the PGA Tour, following Victor Regalado, Cesar Sanudo and Carlos Ortiz, and the seventh player to win a WGC event for his first tour victory.
He was born on 27 February 1991 in McAllen, Texas, United States. He grew up in Reynosa, Mexico, until age 14 when he moved back to the United States. He played his first golf tournament when he was 6 years old and played amateur tournaments in Mexico. He attended Sharyland High School in Mission, Texas, where he was All-Valley four years and a three-time MVP. He went on to Odessa Junior College then transferred to the University of Oklahoma graduating in 2013. At the University of Oklahoma, he did Multi-Disciplinary Studies.
As a freshman at Odessa Junior College, Abraham was a Ping All-American and Jack Nicklaus Award and Phil Mickelson Award winner. He won five tournaments while at Odessa Junior College.
At the University of Oklahoma, he was an Honorable Mention All-American selection and a three-time all-region choice, winning two individual tournaments and finishing second in school history to Anthony Kim in career scoring average in relation to par. He set school record for lowest 54-hole score (21-under). He was also a two-time All-American Scholar.
During the 2014 Season, he made four Web.com Tour starts and missed the cut in all four. In three PGA TOUR Canada events, he made two cuts.

In the 2017 Season, Abraham finished the Web.com Tour season with 24 starts, three runner-ups, and 18 cuts made. He was sixth in the final priority-ranking order and secured his PGA TOUR card for the 2017-18 season with a third-place finish on the 2017 Web.com Tour Regular Season money list.
During the 2018 Season, Abraham advanced to the FedExCup Playoffs for first time, ending his season No. 60 in the FedExCup. He made 20 cuts in 30 starts, including five top-10s, highlighted by a T4 at the Quicken Loans National. He had a T51 at the BMW Championship. He had a 5-stroke victory in the Australian Open and his Australian Open win gave him an entry to the 2019 Open Championship.
