Emma Spitz is an Austrian golfer. She had a stellar amateur career. Spitz won the Austrian Stroke Play Championship in 2015, 2016, 2020 and 2021, and was runner up at the event in 2018 and 2019. In 2017 she was runner-up at the German Girls Open and the Austrian International Amateur, which she subsequently won in 2020. She has won the Austrian Match Play three times, and the Italian International Amateur Championship twice. She was runner up at the 2018 Slovenian Amateur Championship, and won the event in 2019.

Spitz was one of 30 players to tee it up at the inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship in 2018. She took part in the 2019 AIG Women’s British Open. The golfer won the stroke play portion of the 2018 Girls’ British Open Amateur by five shots, and would go on to win the 18-hole match play title to become the first Austrian to win the event. She was a member of the 2018 European Junior Ryder Cup and ’17 European Junior Solheim Cup teams. She earned a bronze medal at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Argentina, won the 2019 Slovenian Amateur Championship, finished second at the ’19 Austrian Stroke Play Championship and placed 11th at the ’19 European Ladies’ Amateur Championship.

Spitz played college golf at UCLA, where she was a finalist for the Honda Sport Award for Golf presented annually by the CWSA following a runner-up finish at the 2022 NCAA Championships in Scottsdale. She was also a 3-time WGCA First Team All-American (2021-2022, 2020-2021, 2019-2020), 3-time ANNIKA Award Finalist (2021-22, 2020-2021, 2019-2020) and 2-time member of the All-Pac-12 Conference First Team (2021-2022, 2020-2021) and a 6-time Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll member (Winter – 2022, 2021, 2020; Spring – 2021, 2022; Fall – 2020).

After three seasons with UCLA women’s golf, Spitz left for the professional ranks following the 2022 NCAA championships. In June 2022, Spitz wrote on Instagram: “Words can’t even explain how thankful I am for my time at UCLA. These past three years have not only helped me grow as a player but also as a person. I want to thank all the people who have been a part of my time here. I especially want to thank my coaches, who have always been there for me on and off the golf course and my teammates who have made these years so special and I who I know will be friends for ever.
