Sarah Schmelzel is an American professional golfer. She is currently playing on the LPGA Tours. Schmelzel started playing golf at the age of 5 years old. She attended Xavier Prep in Phoenix, Arizona, United States, while there she won medalist honors at the 2011 Arizona State High School Championship. She also led Xavier Prep to its third team state title in four years. Schmelzel went on to join the University of South Carolina. While at the University of South Carolina Schmelzel earned her first career medalist honors at the 2016 Bryan National Collegiate. She also got an All-America Honorable Mention while at the University of South Carolina and was a 2016 Golfweek All-American.
Sarah turned professional in 2017. In 2018, she recorded seven top-10 finishes on the Symetra Tour including four top-five results in her last five events to finish 13th on the Symetra Tour Official Money List. Schmelzel finished third at the inaugural LPGA Q-Series to earn Priority List Category 14 status for the 2019 season. In 2019, she played in 25 LPGA Tour events as a rookie, with a best finish of sixth at the Cambia Portland Classic. In 2020, she recorded a season-best T6 result at the LPGA Drive On Championship at the Inverness Club. When she is not playing golf, Schmelzel enjoys hiking, yoga, and other outdoor activities.
