Mighty Salim Biography – Mighty Salim Wiki

Mighty Salim real name Timothy Njuguna was a Kikuyu musician. Some of his songs include Ndutura Karimu, Githioro wa Ngurai, and Jafuleta. Mighty was from the renowned Salim family. The family is widely credited for introducing the concept of playing One Man Guitar or ‘Mugithi’ in the Kikuyu entertainment scene. The Salim family members in the Kikuyu secular music include their father Joseph Salim Mwangi, the late Salim Junior, Mighty Salim, Sarafina Salim, and Salim Young.

Mighty Salim is the younger brother of Salim Junior, real name Paul Mwangi Salim. Salim Junior took over the industry after introducing his unique style, Mugithi, which earned him the title of One-man-guitar. He gave new life to most vernacular and secular and gospel songs by releasing their remix through his unique style.

Mighty Salim Age

Mighty Salim was born in 1980 in Subukia, Nakuru County to Joseph Salim Mwangi and Wangari Wa Salim. He died on January 24, 2021. He was 40 years old.

Mighty Salim Wife – Mighty Salim Children

Mighty was married to his first wife Esther Baumbach. The marriage ended in divorce. Mighty Salim and his ex-wife Esther Baumbach had two children, Kacy and Leslie. Mighty went on to marry a second wife and had two children.

Mighty Salim Family

Mighty Salim was born in a musical family of eight. Their father Joseph Salim Mwangi was the pioneer singer of Mugithi genre. Mighty Salim is a brother to the late one-man guitarist and singer Salim Junior, real name Paul Mwangi Salim, Naomi Salim, Sarafina Salim, Salim Young, real name Laban Kinuthia, and Kajei Salim.

Mighty Salim Sickness

Mighty Salim was diagnosed with diabetes in 2003. On Novermber 28, 2018, he was diagnosed with kidney failure and started dialysis. In August 2019, he held a fundraiser to raise KSh 2.5 million to undergo a kidney transplant. His medical appeal read in part: “He requires an urgent kidney transplant. The total bill for the process will be KSH. 2.5 Million. We hearby request well wishers to be part f this noble cause as we raise funds on Friday 23rd August 2019 from 2:00PM at HomeLand Inn.”

Mighty Salim Death

He passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021, just a day after hosting his brother Salim junior’s 5th memorial. Inooro FM presenter Jeff Kuria tweeted: “Popular Mugithi Artist Mighty Salim is DEAD. He died a day after hosting his brother’s Salim junior 5th memorial. Rest well Njuguna.”

Mugithi music sensation Samidoh wrote in a Facebook post, “A good heart has stopped beating, a good soul ascended to heaven.You will stay in history of múgithi forever. Thank you for all the pleasure you gave us. To the Salim’s Family, May our Lord brings you and your family the much-needed peace during this sad time. RIP Mighty Salim.”

Salim Junior died on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at the age of 43, at Nakuru Memorial Hospital where he was undergoing treatment. He reportedly succumbed to a chest infection.

Mighty Salim Cause of Death

Mighty Salim’s cause of death was not revealed. He had been diagnosed with kidney failure.
