Will Coogan (full name William Patrick Green Coogan) was a talented musician and composer. He had previously made waves in the music world with his sister Mary Joanna as the Mary Joanna Band. The Manchester-based band had featured in the MEN in 2014 when they first launched their debut works, following in the footsteps of their musical dad Martin, who is a founding member of the Mock Turtles.

Will Coogan was the nephew of Alan Partridge star Steve Coogan. He was the son of Steve’s DJ brother Martin Coogan and wife Joanne. He was the brother of Mary, Lenny and Earl. He was the uncle of Olive and Floyd.


Will was born William Patrick Green Coogan on 13 December 1991. He died on 13th February 2021. He was 29 years old.

He passed away unexpectedly on 13th February 2021 at the age of 29. Alan Partridge star Steve Coogan dedicated his latest BBC series to the memory of his nephew Will Coogan. A plain black screen in honour of Will was left after the final credits of This Time with Alan Partridge on BBC One on Friday night, 4 June 2021. It read: “Dedicated to the memory of Will Coogan 1991 – 2021.”
