Tim Omotoso born Timothy Oluseun Omotoso, is a Nigerian pastor, televangelist, and the senior pastor of Jesus Dominion International, based in Durban, South Africa.
He is accused of the rape and human trafficking of young female congregants of his Durban-based church.
Pastor Timothy Omotoso and his two co-accused‚ Lusanda Sulani and Zukiswa Sitho‚ face 63 charges in total ranging from racketeering to sexual assault and rape allegedly committed across the country and abroad‚ including in Nigeria and Israel.
Omotoso was apprehended on 20 April 2017 at the Port Elizabeth airport and was allegedly hiding in the ladies’ toilets at the time. According to the South African priority crimes unit, Hawks spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Netshiunda, they had planned to arrest him in Bloemfontein during the Easter weekend, but Omotoso managed to elude being arrested.
Omotoso allegedly targeted young women that were members of his Jesus Dominion International Church. The pastor is accused of using recruiters to lure young women, who would then be taken to Durban, isolated from their families, and seduced under the pretext of spiritual mentoring. One such young woman is Cheryl Zondi who testified against the Nigerian pastor in the Port Elizabeth High Court.
In 2013 Tim Omotoso launched a 24 hour Satellite TV station, ADBN ( Ancient of Days Broadcasting Network). ADBN can be viewed across Africa, Europe, Mexico, The Caribbean, United States and Canada.
He has published a book titled “How to enjoy health, wealth and longevity”, and a prayer book titled “Prayer Bonanza”. He also publishes a daily devotional book yearly.
