Thomas Aiken is a South African professional golfer. He currently plays on the European Tour and Sunshine Tour. Aiken started playing golf at the age of 9 years and trained under coach Martin Witcher. He later joined the Randpark GC Academy in Randburg, South Africa, where he played alongside Anton Haig. As an amateur, Aiken was the South African amateur of the Year in 2001, winning 10 titles and adding five other top-three finishes.
He turned professional in 2002 and made his professional debut at the Sunshine Tour’s Limpopo Industrelek Classic, where he finished T5. In 2004, Aiken earned three victories on the Sunshine Tour’s Winter Swing. In 2005, Aiken topped the money list on the Winter Swing with two further victories.
Aiken earned his European Tour card for 2008 through the qualifying school, he went on to finish 131st in the money list, with a best of tied 13th in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. On May 8, 2011, he won his first title on the European Tour at the Open de EspaƱa, winning by two strokes from Anders Hansen. On March 17, 2013, he won his second European Tour win at the 2013 Avantha Masters, and on February 16, 2014, won the Sunshine Tour’s Order of Merit, overtaking Daniel van Tonder in the final tournament. When he is not playing golf, Aiken enjoys Rugby, fishing, cricket, water sports, movies, and wine.
