Tahmina Ghaffar is an art specialist and expert on Antiques Road Trip on BBC One. She is the head of Islamic and Indian Art department at Chiswick Auctions. She was previously head of the Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art Department at Bonhams.
Tahmina graduated from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at University of London with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in History of Art specialising in Islamic art and architecture.
Tahmina previously worked at Sotheby’s in the Islamic and Indian and the South Asian departments before leading the Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art Department at Bonhams, where she achieved world record results for Indian, Pakistani and Sri Lankan artists.
She went on to serve as director of South Asian Fine Art from October 2019 – January 2024, according to her LinkedIn page. In January 2024, Tahmina joined Chiswick Auctions as head of the Islamic and Indian art department. In March 2025, Tahmina joined the Antiques Road Trip team as an expert on BBC One.
Prior to joining the antiques world, Tahmina had a professional career in banking and finance. “I used to work in finance and I realised that I loved pictures more than numbers,” she revealed during her debut episode of Antiques Road Trip.
