Announcement

Steve announced the news on Instagram, writing: “Over the years, people have often asked me if I’d ever thought about applying for @potterythrow and honestly, it was something I’d never seriously considere as I’m not a hand/slab builder and I dont much decortive/ilustrative based work so the idea of working under the spotlight of national TV seemed far outside my comfort zone.

“But this year, I gave it a bit more thought. Sometimes, stepping out of your comfort zone can be exactly what you need, not just creatively but on a personal level too. As someone who doesn’t consider themselves the most confident, I figured… Why not go against the grain, take a risk, and just apply? I assumed, like so many others I wouldn’t make it to the final 12, but how wrong I was and here I am, part of Series 8 of The Great Pottery Throwdown. @channel4.

“It was an incredible, unforgettable experience. Emotionally and physically demanding, but so rewarding. Being surrounded by cameras and being interviewed while trying to do your best can make everything twice as hard. Silly mistakes I’d never make in my studio became common, but you just have to stay focused and push through. I met some amazing people, from my fellow contestants to the incredible production team who make the magic happen.

“Thank you to everyone involved for making this a chapter in my life that I’ll always cherish!”
