Stephanie Frappart is a French football referee. She has been on the FIFA International Referees List since 2009. She served as a referee at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada. She also took charge of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2017 semi-final, where the Dutch hosts played England, and refereed the final of the 2012 UEFA European Women’s Under-19 Championship, also in Turkey.
On 3 December 2018, Frappart was appointed to officiate in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France. She had the honour of refereeing the FIFA Women’s World Cup final between the United States and the Netherlands on 7 July 2019 in Lyon.
On 28 April 2019, Stephanie Frappart became the first female referee to officiate a men’s Ligue 1 match, between SC Amiens and RC Strasbourg. She has now been promoted to join the pool of Ligue 1 referees on a permanent basis for the 2019/20 season.
On 30 November 2020, UEFA announced Frappart would be the first woman to referee a match in the Champions League, officiating at a match between Juventus and Dynamo Kiev on 2 December 2020.
UEFA Women’s EURO 2025
On Thursday, July 24, 2025, the UEFA Referees Committee appointed Stéphanie Frappart to referee the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 final between England and Spain, on 27 July at St. Jakob-Park Stadium in Basel, Switzerland. She will be assisted by compatriot Camille Soriano and Francesca di Monte of Italy. At this final tournament, she officiated two group stage matches and the quarter-final between Norway and Italy (1–2).
Stéphanie Frappart, who served as 4th official at the final of Women’s EURO 2022, said: “I’m very pleased to have been selected to referee the Women’s EURO final. It’s a big honour and a proud moment at the end of a wonderful tournament.”

UEFA Super Cup
On 2 August 2019, it was announced that Stephanie Frappart had been appointed to referee the 2019 UEFA Super Cup, pitting the UEFA Champions League holders Liverpool against the winners of the UEFA Europa League, Chelsea, on 14 August at Besiktas Park in Istanbul. It was the first time that a female official takes charge of a major UEFA men’s competition event.
UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin said: “I have said on many occasions that the potential for women’s football has no limits and I am delighted that Stéphanie Frappart has been appointed to officiate at this year’s UEFA Super Cup along with assistant referees Manuela Nicolosi and Michelle O’Neal.
“As an organisation, we place the utmost importance on the development of women’s football in all areas. I hope the skill and devotion that Stéphanie has shown throughout her career to reach this level will provide inspiration to millions of girls and women around Europe and show them there should be no barriers in order to reach one’s dream.”
